what is some supplies that i will need for my new chihuahua puppy?
I am getting a new chihuahua puppy for my B-DAY this year and some money my birthday is on May 28 1998. I will have her at weeks four through six she is sweet and layed back so I am getting a dog bed/carrier. The color is going to be pink and black or pokidoted and pink and the spots are black.
You’re getting your chihuahua puppy when she’s four to six weeks old? A reputable breeder would not let you take a chihuahua puppy that young home. Most breeders let their puppies go to their new homes when they are at least 8 weeks old.
Anywho, here is a basic list:
-food that your breeder recommends
-pee pee pads
-chew toys for teething puppies (tip-put toys in the freezer for your puppy to chew. The cold will soothe her gums.)
-teething ointment in a tube for babies (good to apply to a teething puppy’s gums- it will numb the gums and ease the pain.)
-two small bowls
-a small playpen or kennel. I cannot stress this enough, especially for chihuahua puppies. When you leave home, you should NEVER let a puppy have full run of your house. They will pee/poop everywhere, eat something they shouldn’t, bite an electrical cord… the list goes on.
-a baby blanket. Chihuahuas are like little burrowing creatures lol. They love to curl up in a blanket and sleep. Be sure that you don’t pick up any blankets too quickly or step on them, as your puppy may very well be inside of them.
-a quick release safety collar with a bell. (a cat one is fine) Since chihuahua puppies are so small, you can easily lose them in the house. The bell on my chi’s collar when she was a puppy saved her from being stepped on or smashed by the recliner.
-For when you teach her how to walk on a leash, a leash and a soft harness. Harnesses are crucial for chihuahua puppies because the tugging of a leash on their throat can restrict their windpipe.
-a sweater. Even if you think that dressing up dogs is ridiculous, chihuahuas need to have at least one sweater. They get cold very easily.
-a heated disk. It isn’t necessary, but it sure helps when you are trying to get your puppy to go to sleep. You stick it in the microwave for about 2 minutes and voila, it’s warm and ready for your puppy to curl up next to.
-puppy shampoo
-a simple brush. If it’s a longhaired chihuahua, you’ll need other grooming equipment.
-a dog carrier. If you want to go out and take your dog with you, a dog purse is great. Personally I prefer them over hard sided kennels. This isn’t necessary, but you could save your birthday money up to buy a really cute one!
