what should i put in my B/W deck for more mana? (MTG)?
Right now, im running an extended vampire/lifegain deck, as follows.
10 swamp
8 plains
1 marsh flats
4 doom blades
2 blood tributes
3 cradle of vitality
4 sanguine bonds
2 bloodcheif ascension
1 celestial mantle
1 malakir bloodwitch
4 wall of reverence
4 tendrils of corruption
4 child of night
4 vampire nighthawk
i took out
4 esper panorama (no longer running blue)
2 vampire bites (no need for the lifelink)
4 divine verdict (mana cost too high)
2 feast of blood (creature base too low to work)
what can i put in to get more mana? i seem to find myself mulling down to 4-5 cards to get suffecient land, and im never above 5 in a game, what should i add for more mana? also, what should i add in as replacements for divine verdicts and feast of bloods? i need creature/enchnt/artifact removal in there too
Even in decks with huge mana ramping in their creautres, like Elf Decks, 20 land is considered the minimum. Most decks work best with 24 land. Less than that, and you frequently run into the mulligan situation you are describing.
White and Black aren’t that great for mana generation. Kow Cartographer or Knight of the White Orchid can get you Plains pulled out, or you could grab something like Everflowing Chalice, or Gold Myr/Leaden Myr. But really, most of your deck isn’t high mana cost, so mana accel shouldn’t be an issue; you just need more lands so you don’t have to mulligan. If you are concerned about drawing too much mana later, use a lot of sac lands like Marsh Flats in order to thin out the land in your deck more quickly.
White has plenty of Artifact/Enchant control, with it’s king right now being Revoke Existance. Since you are in Exended, I’d recommend Oblivion Ring as well.
