What are some exercises to help fix my chair seat?
i do hunter/jumper and used to have a beautiful leg and after 7 or 8 months of riding with out a trainer i have developed a real bad chair leg at the trot and canter. please help!!!
First: get a trainer! bad habits are easier to prevent than to correct.
Try this exercise: Take your leg away from the saddle (the whole leg, all the way up to your hip joint) Turn your knee and toe towards the horse. Slowly (keeping your new correct leg position) bring your leg back in contact with the saddle. Relax (don’t artificially hold your knee and toes in) Do each leg. Turn your toes up, and pick up the stirrups. It can help to have someone on the ground rotate your thigh muscle back behind your femur bone so that the flat of your thigh is in contact with the saddle. Be careful that as you do the rotation that you do not lean forward on your crotch: stay on your seat bones.
