Play Bouncer
What position does the biggest player on a (US) football team play?
I’m creating a minor recurring character for my novel who’s the teenage bouncer at an impromptu house party in one scene and later on intervenes in a fight between my protagonist (hero) and my antagonist (villian). I’ve got it stuck in my head that he plays on the football team but I don’t know what position he would play because I’m not that into football myself.
If the character is a teen, then I would suggest he play fullback. He is responsible for blocking defenders trying to tackle offensive players with the ball. If I had a bouncer or a body guard, i would want him to be a linebacker, fullback, or strong safety (LB, FB, SS). In professional football lineman are huge; but for teens, I would have him play one of the three positions that also require more athletic talent for younger players for more team proficiency. If your character is more of of a type A personality, I would suggest LB or SS for leadership qualities. Or if he is a quiet dominator, I would say FB. But if he is goofy, then have him be a lineman.
