Playpen Shade
how can I reassure our son?
I’ve been trying to pack things and load our vehicle for our trip (we are headed out tonight) and everytime that I go out the door or get out of our 10 1/2 month old’s sight he starts screaming bloody murder…its like he knows that something is going on but he doesn’t quite know what…
I tried putting him out in his stroller while ago while I loaded some things into the truck but the sun came back out and there wasn’t enough shade out there for me to let him stay outside…
He’s napping now but I can’t really do anything to finish packing or loading the truck b/c I will wake him up and he desperately needed a nap…
So how can I help to reassure him that I’m not leaving him and that everything is ok??
BTW, he’s been in his playpen when he wasn’t in the stroller so its not like I’m just leaving him to get into EVERYTHING…he’s had plenty of toys to play with…
he is going to thru a a period of separation anxiety. perfectly normal. if you are a stay home mom and you are always with him, he is used to that so is hard for him to cope. just let him cry a bit and slowly he will understand is ok. he knows that if he screams and cries you are coming to his rescue. he wont get hurt for crying a bit. my daughter was the same. i would let her cry for about 15 min at a time and when i did come back to her… i mean she would be in the living room on her playpen and i would be on the kitchen but she would cryyyyy like no tomorrow. so when i would finally come to her i would just sit close to her and no pick her up she would fuss but then she would go on about her business… babies know that by crying get them what they want.
