The intelligent people are looking to save the earth and conserve energy etc. Sadly the religious are too busy preaching and dictating to others to even consider it.
If you see humans as less important then you really have a problem with understanding the role of the food chain. Whilst many people worry about the loss of a fly or an animal, the loss of humans to Earth would have a tremendous impact on the whole ecosystem of the earth. Whilst some plant and animal life would thrive in their absence the loss of the supreme predator would be much more likely to cause the end of many plant and animal species.
You need to look at the planet as a whole!!!!!
