upgrading iphone 3gs to iphone 4 before contract is expired?

I have a iPhone 3gs i got in Feb. Now i am wanting the iPhone 4. Don’t ask why. So I am wondering if i can trade in my 3gs for a 4 at like best buy for a cheap price or would i have to purchase a new iPhone. Also could i just purchase an iPhone 4 on like ebay or amazon and just switch my sim card and still keep everything on my contract??
So all together i am wondering if I am able to switch from my 3gs to the 4. Thanks

A 4 would be full price. You can buy one wherever you like. However, your sim will not fit into a 4. You will have to trade it in for a micro sim.
